Not all our molasses goes by sea.

United Molasses travels the world to find you the finest molasses. But not all our molasses is shipped back to Europe. To ensure consistent quality, a small amount is flown ahead to accredited laboratories in the UK and Belgium for analysis.

As the ship is loading, we take samples. After loading, further samples are taken from the top, middle and bottom of the tanks. On arrival in the UK, the tanks are samples again. All the results are compared to confirm the integrity of the precious cargo.
We not only test the molasses. We test the testers as well. Our own expert analysts visit independent laboratories to check that their procedures and equipment meet UM and ICUMSA standards.

At UM terminals, quality control is regularly internally audited and equipment calibrated under ISO 9002 procedures. Programmed inspections ensure a continuous correlation between actual and predicted results.
