Ramipril reduced the severity of ischaemia-induced arrhythmias
and improved coronary flow in rats and guinea pigs.
Vasoprotection
Vasodilation
Inhibition of smooth muscle cell proliferation
Ramipril inhibits both the protection of systemic and local angiotensin
II, and the degradation of systemic and endothelium-delivered bradykinin.
Ramipril produces several beneficial effects within blood vessel walls,
including vasodilation and inhibition of smooth muscle cell proliferation.
Ramipril has been shown to be vasoprotective in rats, rabbits, humans
and dogs. These effects are via enhanced NO availability, and are even
produced by doses that do not affect systemic blood pressure.
